Conservatives Choose To Follow God One Day Our Eyes Will be Opened

Genesis 3:1-5 (NKJV)

1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”

2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden;

3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.”

4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.

5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

Ponder this passage for a bit.  Satan's lure of lies was buried in some truth, wasn't it?  He told Eve, you shall not surely die!  God doesn't want you to be like He is and know good from evil.  What he failed to reveal, of course, was that sin of willful disobedience to God's commandment not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil would indeed cause their death.  In this situation, it brought on the physical death of all humankind and the spiritual death through separation from God for all of eternity.

Once they had eaten of the fruit denied them by God's commandment, their eyes were opened and they a) knew they were naked (vs. 10-11); b) felt shame for the first time in their lives (Gen. 2:25); c) hid from their creator (Gen. 3:10); d) began placing blame and making excuses (3:12-13); and e) were punished accordingly (3:14-22).

So, was there truth in what Satan said?  Partly.  Genesis 3:5 was certainly true for God says to Christ in Genesis 3:22: Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil."  In addition to the willful disobedience, eternal damage was in the lie, "you will not surely die".  Perhaps he meant immediately?  True enough, they did not immediately fall to the ground dead.  The important things were the lie and Adam and Eve's willingness to believe the lie rather than God.

Our world has constantly been faced with threats of overwhelming evil and it inevitably begins with believing the humanist lie: "you won't be punished. You have a right to be happy. You only live once, so make it count.  Why worry about our children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren?  You deserve to have a good life; don't be concerned about something so far away."  This was true during the Cold War where Communism was a threat to freedom and we faced complete spiritual, social, and economic destruction.

In the early 1950's, ex-Communist Whittaker Chambers said, "in this century, within the next decades, [it] will be decided for generations whether all mankind is to become Communist, whether the whole world is to become free, or whether in the struggle, civilization as we know it is to be completely destroyed."  He further explained that he was a "witness to each of the two great faiths of our time - God and Communism." 

He cited Communism as the "vision of man without God".
It pleased God to work through President Reagan to overthrow the Cold War and the marching threat of Communism, giving man another opportunity to choose the only correct, life giving direction; God.  We have always had choices between "irreconcilable opposites - God or man, Soul or Mind, Freedom or Communism."

Liberals inevitably choose to follow man; the humanist, evil god of self.  Conservatives choose to follow God.

Today, you can substitute 'Socialism' for 'Communism' (although the looming re-emergence of Communism is again a shadowy threat) and have the same world that McCarthy warned against (and was so vilified for having the audacity to identify), the Verona Project worked to uncover, and America so narrowly escaped.  The liberals are worshipping man in all his shameful nakedness and it is very possible that Barry Oertero (aka Barack Hussein Obama) is God's judgment against America's evil and sin-filled descent into hell.

America hasn't learned a thing in her 233.5 years, has she?  We are still listening to Satan's lies telling us that God doesn't really mean what He said, He just doesn't want any competition.

Go ahead and bite, America.  The result will be death unless we repent from a place of sincere godly sorrow and turn to God for the answers.  In 233.5 years, we haven't made any progress without Him leading our steps.  What makes us believe another 4 years without God will see America continue to stand?
