Will Liberal Obama Nominate A Jurist Or Liberal Idealist?

Supreme Court Justice David Souter has announced he will retire this summer. Justice Souter was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1990 by President George H. W. Bush. Justice Souter became the new reliable liberal vote on the court.

Now we'll have to see if Barack Hussein Obama nominates a true constitutional jurist or a liberal idealist. Obama made a campaign promise to appoint a justice who rules based on their own ‘deepest values’ and what’s in their own ‘heart’.

As Wendy Long of the Virginia-based Judicial Confirmation Network said in a statement, "The current Supreme Court is a liberal, judicial activist court." Ms. Long went on to say regarding liberal Obama's campaign promise of a justice appointment, “instead of what is in the Constitution and laws-- he will be the first American President who has made lawlessness an explicit standard for Supreme Court Justices."

Ed Whelan president of the conservative Ethics and Public Policy Center was quoted as saying, "Obama's own record and rhetoric make it clear that he will seek left-leaning judicial activists who will indulge their passions, not Justices who will make their rulings with dispassion."

When Obama was a state senator in Illinois, he said in a radio interview that our federal courts have not done enough from the bench to establish sharing the wealth. It's hard for liberals like Obama to understand the courts enforce laws they don't redistribute wealth and make laws.

The liberal activists are coming out in force. Different groups are saying that the new Justice should be a woman. Others are saying the new Justice should be Hispanic, or black or a woman who is Hispanic or black. None of the liberal activist groups have suggested a Justice who upholds the Constitution and not rewrite laws.

One name that comes to the forefront on a list of potential new Justices is Judge Sonia Sotomayor of New York.  Judge Sotomayor is Hispanic and a woman which many of the liberal activist groups are looking for. The Judge should be a hit with most liberal activist groups. She has said that a judge should make rulings from their heart and life experiences.  She has mentioned nothing about a judge having the responsibility to make rulings based on laws and the Constitution.

America we need to be aware of what is happening in this nominating process. The Justice who is appointed will serve for many years and will affect our lives for all of those years in the way they rule from the Supreme Court. The court is not the place to promote your beliefs it is to uphold Constitution and laws.
