PAC’s Need Restrictions

Saving America Part 5

Everyone has heard of at least one Political Action Committee (PAC).   PAC’s can serve a useful purpose but they can also distort facts and in many cases lie.  We need Representatives and Senators that will clean up these PAC’s and restrict them as needed.

PAC’s were created by Congress to give them ways to raise money and intimidate opponents.  This is a way that incumbents have vast amounts of money and they use those funds to distort the opposition’s viewpoint and in most cases not have their name attached to it.

PAC’s can and should serve a useful purpose in the campaign process.  Many times PAC’s can get opposing views to the general public quickly and in ways people will understand.  Many times though instead of expressing the opposing views they distort the facts or even lie to enhance their view.

They were not created to endorse a candidate.  PAC’s are explicitly forbidden to endorse any candidate and it is time that the laws on this were enforced.  When it is implicitly recognizable that the PAC is endorsing a specific candidate then that candidate and their campaign must pay for the ad.

Incumbents have a terrific campaign contribution advantage over any opponent.  Incumbents have a huge advantage also with PAC’s so to maintain a level playing field the rules for PAC’s must be strictly enforced.

America we need Representatives and Senators that will stand for the integrity needed with Political Action Committees.
