Hill Staffers Top $9 Million In Back Taxes

At the Labor Department 463 employees owe $7,481,463. The Federal Reserve System’s board of governors has 81 workers who owe $1,076,733.  The Justice Department, which is so busy enforcing other laws and suing Arizona, has 1,971 employees who still owe $14,350,152 in overdue taxes.

The Department of Homeland Security has 4,856 people who owe the tax agency a whopping total of $37,012,174.  The executive branch total for IRS delinquencies, with the White House included is a whopping $59,781,577 in back taxes.

 IRS documents show that 638 employees, about 4 percent, of 18,000 staffers owed money, slightly higher than the 3 percent delinquency rate among all tax filers last year, according to an independent analysis of IRS data by The Washington Post released Thursday.

Staffers on Capitol Hill owed $9.3 million in overdue taxes at the end of 2009.  Senate staffers on average owe $12,787, while those delinquent who are working for the House owe $15,498.

Overall federal government employees owe over $1 billion in back federal taxes.  The percent of federal employees owing back taxes is 4%.  This is higher than the 3% for all Americans.  Why isn’t the federal government collecting the taxes owed by its own employees?

No wonder the socialist Obama and Democrats want to raise taxes.  They don’t pay regardless of what the tax rate is.  The federal government needs to clean up the back taxes owed by federal employees.  It is disgraceful the number owing and amount owed by White House staff.

This is the transparency and integrity Obama and Pelosi promised America and the draining of the swamp.
