Hawaii Banishes Daily Prayers In Senate
Hawaii Has Islam Day
Hawaii’s state Senate has voted to banish the daily prayer offered before each session began, making it the first state legislative body in the nation to halt prayers. The American Civil Liberties Union last summer sent the Senate a letter noting that its invocations often referenced Jesus Christ, contravening the separation of church and state after a citizens complaint.
Hawaii’s state Senate overwhelmingly approved a bill to celebrate “Islam Day”, over the objections of a few lawmakers who said they didn’t want to honor a religion connected to September 11, 2001.
The resolution to proclaim Sept. 24, 2009, as Islam Day passed the Senate on a 22-3 vote.
Where was the ACLU when “Islam Day” was voted on? Are only Christians now singled out? Is the ACLU admitting Islam is not a religion?
America was built on Christian values. We have to stop the absurd demonization of Christianity. Read the First Amendment. The socialist ACLU and left have completely distorted it.
The First Amendment says the government cannot make a religion. To say a prayer in an opening session isn’t making a religion.
You wonder why the crime rate is up. You wonder why abortions are up. When the left removed Christian values from America we started a downhill slide. Now we can have “Islam Day” and cannot say a prayer.
