Gang Of Six "No Deal" Deal
Republicans Need To Say NO
“I think [the Gang of Six plan] is a very significant step,” Obama told reporters at the White House in an unexpected appearance. “The framework they put forward is broadly consistent with what we’ve been working on in the White House.”
“Framework” may be the key word in explaining the problems this “very significant step” will have in breaking into a stride in Congress. As of Wednesday, all that existed was the “framework”—that is, a broad-brushed, five-page “executive summary” of a plan to “slash our nation’s deficits by $3.7 trillion/$3.6 trillion over 10 years,” “stabilize our publicly held debt by 2014,” “reduce our publicly held debt to roughly 70% of our economy by 2021,” and impose “unprecedented budget enforcement.”
We heard Nancy Pelosi tell us in 2008 we they had to pass Obamacare for us to find out what was in it. What we got was 2,700 of horrible legislation that will destroy health care and bust the budget. The bureaucrats are still writing thousands of rules in Obamacare. The Obamacare legislation was the framework.
America can't afford another boondoggle like Obamacare or the non-stimulus stimulus plan. This is five pages of nothing. This is a way for the democrats to raise taxes and destroy our economy.
"The Senate has failed to do their job and pass a budget in the last 812 days,” Representative Ann Marie Buerkle (R-NY) said. “Now they want to increase taxes by trillions of dollars and still not tell us specifically how they will cut the budget until after we are locked into a new process. It’s a bad idea trying to provide cover for their lack of work. Just do your job. Pass a budget. No gimmicks needed."
“I plan to wait and see exactly what this plan will look like when it comes out of the Gang of Six before I decide,” said Representative David Schweikert (R-AZ). “However, I believe the only real plan up until now is the one the 'Gang of 234’ passed last night. The only way to solve our debt crisis is to cut, cap and balance.”
The Gang of Six deal is not a deal. It is more smoke and screen that will only hurt our economy. As sad as it is to say this is true, "We can't trust Congress."
