House Republicans Give Obama Major Victory

After the debt ceiling debacle it's hard to decide which leader is the worst.  Barack Obama showed once again through the entire process he has no leadership qualities.  Speaker of the House John Boehner put his name on the debt ceiling bill and let Harry Reid write most of. 

The House leadership did give Obama a major victory.  Between now and the next election Obama gets to spend another $2 + trillion we don't have.  He will get his tax increases.  He will get to gut the Department of Defense.  Boehner and the House leadership got nothing.

Obama had two specific objectives that he had to get at all costs:

1) To get Republicans to propose specific spending cuts that Democrats can use against them in the coming elections, while not making any such proposals himself; and

2) To silence the fiscal debate until after his election in 2012.

Obama won on both fronts because the House leadership wouldn't stand their ground.  The Republicans have to face the prospect of tax increases combined with spending cuts that will be phony at best.  They will have to sit there too while the Democrats gut defense.

The Republican House leadership had passed "Cap, Cut, & Balance."  They refused to force Harry Reid's hand and make the Senate vote on it.  Reid said no to it and the House leadership immediately came up with other ideas.

The House leadership caved in to Barack Obama and Harry Reid.  Conservatives have lost our last chance for a meaningful discussion on fiscal reform, until there’s another financial or economic crisis.  Worse yet America will still lose our credit rating because no cuts were made and deficit spending will grown worse.
