California Employment Record Low

California Close To Passing Dream Act

Only in California can you have low employment, a state close to bankruptcy, and  a Dream Act for illegal aliens close to passage.  Facing bankruptcy and companies fleeing the state instead of boosting employment for the taxpayers they want to be a haven for the illegal's.

Earlier this year they passed a piece of legislation approved private loans and scholarships to illegal aliens.  Last  the state's Senate passed  the Dream Act. If it passes through the overwhelmingly Democratic assembly it will soon be on the desk of Governor Jerry Brown.

Illegal immigrants will now be able to receive state grants, fee waivers and university scholarships.  There is around $40 million dollars in public funds that illegal immigrant students can compete for, which is added to the $88 million in private funds that they were given access to in the previous part of the California Dream Act.

This plan essentially allows an illegal immigrant to receive the same benefits from the system as a citizen or a legal immigrant.  It's basically a full-fledged amnesty program.

California Assemblyman Gil Cedillo, who was one of the bill’s authors, said of the program, “This is a very smart decision for the state.  It’s not necessarily popular or without controversy, but we have to get these students fully educated.”

Just 55.4% of working-age Californians, defined as those 16 or older, had a job in July, down from 56.2% a year earlier and the lowest level since 1976, the Sacramento- based California Budget Project said in a report released late yesterday.

California’s 12 % unemployment rate in July, the nation’s second-highest after Nevada, compared with 9.1 % nationwide. The most-populous state lost 1.4 million jobs during the recession that began three years ago, and has gained back only 226,800, or about 17%, according to the report.

A suggestion for Assemblyman Gil Cedillo and the rest of California's Assembly.  Help American citizens get educations and jobs.  Send the illegal aliens home.  That would help employment and give an increase  to the state's coffers, instead of the drain from illegal's.
