Why Are The Rich Getting Richer

Why Are The Poor Getting Poorer

According to The AP, the top 1% of us reaped 17% of all income while the bottom 20% reaped just 5%.  This shows that there is such a thing as the American dream because America is the land of opportunity. But if the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer, why?

The rich are actively pursuing and working to build their wealth while the poor are sitting in their rocking chair waiting for the government to do more for them.  Many people remain poor because that is what they want to be.

It boils down to when people feel that they have reached their personal level of success. Rich people keep striving for more because they don’t feel they’ve made it to what they feel is “Success”. They may live in mansions and drive big fancy cars but they still feel that there is something more that can be attained. Bill Gates may be the richest man in the world but he still finds things that contribute to what he feels will make him feel more successful. Steve Jobs was still peddling his fancy gizmos until the day he died.

Poor people sit around on their backsides because they don’t feel they can accomplish one more thing and it isn’t worth the effort to even try. Why should they expend the effort if someone else is going to take care of their basic needs? This mindset has crippled these people and our government has made it easier to keep them crippled. As long as the government meets the needs of these cripples, they feel they’ve met their personal success level so why should they strive to improve themselves. If these people are satisfied with the government feeding them and clothing them, then the government should also establish reasonable goals for them and holding them accountable to meet them.

Nothing in the Constitution says that the government should be responsible for the daily needs of each individual citizen. It only says that the government will promote the ‘General’ Welfare. General means to affect all or most of the people, not just the people who have never even tried to reach higher than the arbitrary poverty level.

Today no one is creating new jobs because government regulations make it a losing undertaking. If and when a lot of government regulations are rescinded it will be the rich not the poor who will revive our economy.
